Possible Link to Backpack Found in Central Park Discovered by NBC New York

The manhunt for the gunman who executed the CEO of UnitedHealthcare in Midtown Manhattan continues into its third day. Investigators are focusing on the suspect’s movements before and after the shooting, with a gray bag found in Central Park being examined for potential evidence. The suspect is believed to have arrived in New York City on a Greyhound bus from Atlanta. Law enforcement officials are also seeking help from the public to identify a “person of interest” in connection with the case.

The shooting, described as a premeditated and targeted attack, took the life of Brian Thompson, who had been CEO of UnitedHealthcare since 2021. Surveillance footage shows how the gunman shot Thompson as he walked toward a hotel. Thompson’s family, devastated by the tragedy, described him as a loving father and dedicated colleague.

The NYPD is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case. Mayor Eric Adams reassured the public that the city remains safe and is committed to ensuring justice for this heinous crime. The investigation is ongoing, with police examining evidence left behind at the crime scene to track down the perpetrator responsible for Thompson’s death.
