Two lucky Flushing residents are celebrating early holiday cheer after winning big in the recent Powerball drawing. The New York Lottery announced that two winning tickets were sold in Flushing for the December 7th drawing, with one ticket worth a staggering $256 million. The jackpot-winning ticket was sold at Hua Lian Supermarket, while the second winning ticket, worth $50,000, was sold at Stop & Go Convenience.
This marks New York’s first Powerball jackpot win since 2020. The winning numbers for the drawing were 1, 31, 43, 55, 57, with the red Powerball 22. The lucky winners have the option to choose a lump sum payment, which would still result in a substantial $123.5 million after taxes.
The New York Lottery, the largest and most profitable lottery in North America, contributes $3.8 billion annually to benefit public schools in the state. For those struggling with gambling addiction, help is available through NYProblemGamblingHelp.org or by calling New York’s toll-free confidential HOPEline at 1-877-8-HOPENY, or texting HOPENY.
The Powerball drawing is televised three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at 10:59 p.m. For more news, updates, and local insights delivered straight to your inbox, sign up for the QNS email newsletter.
