NYPD officers shoot man in the Bronx after he takes shooting stance

NYPD officers in the Bronx shot a man in the leg on Friday afternoon after he pointed a gun at them in a parking lot on White Plains Road in Soundview. The officers had responded to a 911 call about a fight in the area. The man raised a loaded 9mm handgun at the officers in a “shooting stance,” leading them to open fire and strike him twice in the leg. The officers quickly handcuffed the man and provided aid before taking him to Jacobi Hospital for treatment. The officers themselves were treated for tinnitus. The man’s identity and potential charges have not been released by the police at this time. Another individual involved in the fight is still being sought by authorities. The officers involved in the incident are part of the Neighborhood Safety Team at the 43rd precinct. Please note that this information is based on preliminary details from the police and may be subject to updates.
