Police are currently searching for a man who stabbed a Halal food cart vendor outside of Fordham University’s Manhattan campus. The incident occurred on Thursday night when the 25-year-old victim, Ayman Moustafa, was arguing with the suspect outside the university’s Lincoln Center campus. Moustafa reported that the man “poked” him with an unknown object, resulting in minor injuries that were treated by medics at the scene.
Moustafa recounted the attack to The Observer, revealing that the suspect attempted to enter his food cart and stabbed him with a knife when he resisted. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY) condemned the attack and called for swift justice for Moustafa. This incident comes after a previous case in August where a man was indicted for assaulting a 25-year-old individual and using Islamophobic language.
In response to the recent attack, CAIR-NY’s executive director, Afaf Nasher, emphasized the importance of ensuring that all individuals, including hardworking vendors like Moustafa, are safe on the streets. The organization hopes that the seriousness of the matter will be acknowledged and that the perpetrator will be apprehended promptly. The police are continuing their search for the suspect involved in the assault on Moustafa, and the local community is urged to provide any information that could aid in the investigation.
