Records confirm Harris campaign paid Oprah’s company $1 million

A new campaign finance report reveals that Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign paid Oprah Winfrey’s production company $1 million for their work on a livestream rally in September. Rumors had circulated that Winfrey was paid for endorsing Harris, but she denied this, stating that her company was paid for providing production services for the event. Harris’ campaign defended the payment, stating that artists and performers at their events are only paid for ancillary costs, not for their endorsements. The campaign finance records also show that Harris spent millions on production firms and advertising agencies during her unsuccessful 2024 presidential campaign. This includes $575,000 on a 90-second ad on the Las Vegas Sphere ahead of a rally, as well as millions on television and digital advertisements. The spending is now being scrutinized as Democrats evaluate Harris’ loss in the election and analyze where her campaign went wrong. Despite the controversy over the payment to Winfrey’s company, it is confirmed that the money was for services rendered, not for her endorsement of Harris.
