Democratic lawmakers targeted with bomb threats on Thanksgiving Day

Multiple House Democrats from Connecticut, including the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, received bomb threats at their homes on Thanksgiving Day. No bombs were found, and all members and their families are safe. The threats came a day after several of President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees also received similar bomb threats. Jim Himes, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, stated that there was no evidence of a bomb after a thorough response and emphasized the importance of political violence having no place in the country. Rep. Jahana Hayes also received a bomb threat via email, stating a pipe bomb was in her mailbox, but no bomb was found. Rep. Joe Courtney also received a bomb threat, but no bomb was found in his case either. Both representatives expressed their gratitude for law enforcement’s swift response and urged perpetrators that these threats will not be tolerated. Despite the threats, the representatives emphasized spending a safe and happy Thanksgiving with loved ones and maintaining peace and civility throughout the holiday season.
