Former New York Giants quarterback, Daniel Jones, has found a new home with the Minnesota Vikings for the remainder of the 2024 NFL season. After clearing waivers, Jones signed with the Vikings’ practice squad for a deal worth $375,000.
Jones, a 2019 first-round pick, had an inconsistent six seasons with the Giants, including a breakout season in 2022. However, his performance declined in 2024, with 2,070 passing yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions in the first 10 games, resulting in a 2-8 record for the Giants.
Now, Jones will join the 9-2 Vikings to learn from head coach Kevin O’Connell and back up starting quarterback Sam Darnold. The Vikings also have quarterbacks Nick Mullens and Brett Rypien on the roster, with 2024 first-round pick J.J. McCarthy sidelined with a season-ending injury.
Jones’ move to Minnesota comes after his official release from the Giants on Saturday. Despite a challenging tenure with the Giants, Jones will have an opportunity to revitalize his career with the Vikings and contribute to their successful season.
Fans will be eager to see how Jones fits in with his new team and if he can make a positive impact in the remaining games of the season. Stay tuned to watch Jones’ journey with the Minnesota Vikings as he looks to prove himself in a new environment.
