Royce White, Senate candidate in Minnesota, under fire for resurfaced WWII post

Royce White, a candidate for the U.S. Senate seat in Minnesota, is facing criticism after a social media post from 2022 resurfaced in which he controversially stated that “the bad guys won” World War II. White, a former NBA player, is running against incumbent Sen. Amy Klobuchar but is trailing in the polls. The post, which linked liberalism and communism to the Allied forces in WWII, led to backlash and accusations of being pro-war and pro-crony capitalism. White’s campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the matter.

This is not the first time White has been involved in controversy, as he has been accused of using campaign funds at a strip club, making transphobic comments, and positioning himself as further right than former President Donald Trump. White, a Minnesota native, previously ran for a House of Representatives seat in 2022 but failed to advance past the Republican primary.

Despite his political aspirations, White is better known for his brief NBA career, playing only three games for the Sacramento Kings after being drafted 16th overall in the 2012 NBA Draft. He later played in the Big 3 league before turning his attention to politics. The resurfaced social media post has sparked renewed scrutiny of White’s views and statements, with voters and critics questioning his suitability for public office.
