Shooting Incident Leaves Four Injured at Virginia State University Campus


Local and state police are investigating a shooting that occurred on the campus of Virginia State University early Wednesday morning. Four individuals were shot near Daniel Gymnasium on the school’s campus, with officers responding to a report of a shooting around 12:36 a.m. All four victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. As of mid-Wednesday morning, there was no further threat to the Virginia State community related to the shooting. Police have not yet released any identifying information about the individuals who were shot. It has been determined that none of the victims are currently enrolled for the fall 2024 semester at the university, and no officers discharged their firearms during the incident. Multiple suspects have been identified, and charges are pending in the case. The motive for the shooting is under investigation and Virginia State Police are assisting with the investigation.
