Queens’ LaGuardia Airport has officially turned its reputation around from being the worst airport in North America to one of the best, according to a recent survey of passengers. The Airport Service Quality survey recognized LaGuardia as one of the top airports for airports with 25 to 40 million annual passengers in North America in 2023, along with Minneapolis/St Paul International Airport. LaGuardia received an overall satisfaction score of 4.24 out of 5, a significant improvement from its dismal rating in 2018.
The turnaround can be attributed to the completion of all of LaGuardia’s new facilities and renovations, which were fully open to the public last year. Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton praised the transformation of LaGuardia, stating that the airport had gone from being universally regarded as the worst airport in the country to now being recognized as one of the best.
The survey, which involved around 4,200 passengers, asked participants to rate various aspects of their airport experience, including cleanliness, staff courtesy, security, and amenities. The positive feedback from passengers is a significant accomplishment for the Port Authority, which oversees LaGuardia as well as Newark Liberty International and John F. Kennedy International airports. Last year, the Port Authority’s airports had their busiest year ever, with approximately 144 million people flying through the three major airports in the metro area.
