In an electrifying game, the Detroit Pistons secured their first home win in nearly two months with a thrilling 118-112 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday night. Jaden Ivey was the star of the show, scoring 34 points, while Cade Cunningham added 32 points and 11 assists to lead the Pistons to victory.
The Pistons had been on a rough losing streak, with nine losses in their last 10 games, and had not won at home since January. However, the team dug deep and made enough plays down the stretch to secure the win, much to the delight of coach Monty Williams.
Brooklyn, led by Dennis Schroder’s season-high 31 points and Lonnie Walker IV’s 21 points, put up a tough fight but struggled with rebounding, allowing the Pistons to grab 13 offensive rebounds and score 23 second-chance points.
The game was tied at 98 in the fourth quarter before the Pistons went on a 9-0 run led by Cunningham and Ivey. Cunningham’s fast-break dunk and Ivey’s 3-pointer were crucial in securing the lead and ultimately the win for the Pistons.
Both Cunningham and Ivey had standout performances in the fourth quarter, combining for 26 points to seal the victory for Detroit. Despite a strong second quarter from Brooklyn where they shot over 77%, the Pistons managed to rally back and come out on top.
Next up, the Nets will face the Charlotte Hornets, while the Pistons will host the Dallas Mavericks in their upcoming games. The win was a much-needed confidence boost for the Pistons and a testament to their resilience and determination on the court.
