Thousands of subway riders were evacuated from two trains in Brooklyn after a power loss on Wednesday evening. The MTA reported that power was lost between two stations in Downtown Brooklyn, causing two F trains to get stuck. Approximately 3,500 riders were evacuated from the trains, a process that took nearly three hours. One person had to be taken to a local hospital. The outage affected service on multiple subway lines in Manhattan and Brooklyn, with the A/C and G lines experiencing partial suspensions. Commuters were advised to consider alternative transportation options, including the Long Island Rail Road, which was cross-honoring MetroCard holders. F trains were rerouted in Brooklyn, with most running via the D line. The MTA urged passengers to stay updated on service changes through their website. NYC Transit President Demetrius Crichlow thanked the responders who assisted in the evacuations and stated that NYC Transit will work with Con Edison to understand the cause of the outage. Con Edison assured that regular subway service should be restored by Wednesday night. Despite the disruption, authorities reported that evacuations were orderly and there were no serious injuries.
