Hannah Kobayashi, who was missing since November after a series of alarming text messages, has been found in Mexico according to a statement released by her family’s lawyer on X. Kobayashi was presumed missing after missing a flight at Los Angeles International Airport and crossing the U.S.-Mexico border on foot. Her father tragically committed suicide during the search for her near LAX. The family has asked for privacy as they heal after this difficult time and thanked everyone for their support.
Kobayashi’s disappearance timeline began with missing a connecting flight at LAX, being seen at a bookstore and a Nike event at The Grove, and returning to LAX to pick up her luggage before being seen at the Pico Metro station. She was later seen crossing the border near San Ysidro and the LAPD classified her as a voluntary missing person after reviewing video footage. Her family filed a missing person report and eventually announced that she had been found in Mexico.
The LAPD had originally believed that Kobayashi intentionally missed her flight, a claim disputed by her family. However, after reclassifying the case as a voluntary missing person, it was discovered that she had crossed the border. The family’s lawyer released a statement confirming that she had been found in Mexico, bringing closure to the search for the missing woman.
