Residents of Western New York and the Tug Hill and North Country regions are bracing themselves for another round of heavy Lake Effect Snow. The persistent narrow bands of snow accumulation, carried by blustery westerly winds, are expected to bring significant snowfall and gusty winds over the next few days.
Starting tonight and continuing through tomorrow, the heavy snowfall is likely to create near whiteout conditions in the affected areas. Gusty winds, reaching speeds of up to 40 miles per hour, could lead to blowing and drifting snow, further complicating travel in regions east of Lake Ontario and Lake Erie.
To prepare for the impending snowstorm, residents are advised to stay updated on the latest weather forecasts from Spectrum News 1. A Lake Effect Snow Warning has been issued for Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie Counties from 4pm today until 1pm Friday, with a similar warning in effect for Oswego, Jefferson, and Lewis Counties in the Tug Hill and North Country regions from 7pm tonight until 7pm Friday.
As the region braces for more challenging weather conditions, residents are urged to exercise caution and stay safe during this latest round of Lake Effect Snow.
