NBC New York announces the four finalists for the 2024 Heisman Trophy in college football

The prestigious Heisman Trophy race for college football’s most outstanding player has come down to four finalists for the 2024 season. The finalists include Oregon Ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel, Colorado Buffaloes two-way player Travis Hunter, Boise State Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty, and Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward.

Travis Hunter is widely expected to win the award due to his impressive performance this season. As a receiver, he tallied the fifth-most receptions and sixth-most receiving yards in the nation, along with the second-most receiving touchdowns. On defense, Hunter made four interceptions, 11 pass breakups, and 32 tackles. He played a crucial role in Colorado’s 9-3 season.

Ashton Jeanty led the nation in rushing yards and touchdowns, powering Boise State to a Mountain West championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff. Jeanty is aiming to break Barry Sanders’ single-season rushing record.

Cam Ward, in his first season with Miami, threw for the second-most passing yards and most touchdowns in the nation. Dillon Gabriel led Oregon to a perfect 13-0 record and the top seed in the College Football Playoff bracket.

The Heisman Trophy winner will be revealed at a ceremony in New York City on December 14th. The last three winners of the award have been quarterbacks, but this year’s race includes two quarterbacks and two other exceptional players. The bracket for the College Football Playoff will feature Oregon as the top seed in a 12-team field.
