Week 14 of the 2024 NFL Season: Who Came Out on Top and Who Fell Short – NBC New York

Week 14 of the NFL season saw several playoff contenders on bye, but that didn’t dampen the excitement of the games played. The early window featured close matchups, with four out of seven games decided by six points or less, including an overtime thriller.

One standout performance came from the Minnesota Vikings’ wide receivers, Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, who combined for five touchdowns in a 42-21 win over the Atlanta Falcons. The Vikings improved to 11-2, while the Falcons fell to 6-7 and are in danger of a collapse.

In another game, the Cleveland Browns extended their regular-season winless streak in Pittsburgh to 21 games, dating back to 2003, after a 27-14 loss to the Steelers. The Browns are now 3-10, positioning themselves for a top draft pick, while the Steelers moved to 10-3, inching closer to a postseason spot.

The NFC South saw a shift in power, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers taking a one-game lead over the Falcons with a win over the Las Vegas Raiders. The New York Jets suffered yet another heartbreaker, falling to the Miami Dolphins in overtime despite a stellar performance from Aaron Rodgers.

Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles had a standout game, becoming the team’s single-season rushing leader and positioning himself to break an NFL record. However, quarterbacks in New Jersey and Nashville struggled in their respective games, with disappointing performances from Drew Lock, Derek Carr, Mac Jones, and Will Levis.

Overall, Week 14 showcased close matchups and standout performances as teams make their final push for playoff contention.
