American rapper and music producer Jay-Z has been accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000, alongside hip-hop star Sean “Diddy” Combs. Jay-Z has vehemently denied the allegations, calling them a “blackmail attempt” orchestrated by a “deplorable” lawyer who he says sought to exploit the situation for financial gain.
The civil lawsuit alleges that both Jay-Z and Combs assaulted the minor at an afterparty following the MTV Video Music Awards. The lawsuit also claims that other celebrities were present but did nothing to stop the assault. Combs is currently facing charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, with his criminal trial scheduled to begin in 2025.
Jay-Z, who is now a billionaire record producer and entrepreneur married to singer Beyonce, has filed a countersuit against the lawyer behind the allegations, Tony Buzbee. Buzbee has stated that the alleged victim he represents never demanded money from Jay-Z and only sought a confidential mediation. Federal prosecutors have also accused Combs of sexually abusing women and coercing them into drug-fueled sex parties using threats and violence.
The lawsuit against Jay-Z and Combs is set to be litigated in court, with Buzbee emphasizing the seriousness of the matter. Additionally, Buzbee has mentioned that more than 100 alleged victims are planning legal action against Combs. Both Jay-Z and Combs maintain their innocence and are prepared to defend themselves against the allegations.
