A street vendor in Manhattan was shot in the back on Friday, with police responding to the incident on Canal St. near Greene St. in SoHo. The 21-year-old victim, who sells knockoff designer handbags, was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. According to a witness named Mohammed, the shooter seemed paranoid and claimed people were following him before opening fire on the victim. Another witness, Danny O’Boyle, heard the shots from his apartment and saw the victim injured on the street below. The area is known for fights, and about two dozen vendors had to leave while detectives investigated the shooting. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
