Get ready to bundle up, as the tri-state area is about to experience the coldest day of the season so far. Following the passage of a cold front on Thursday, a rush of cold air will sweep through the region on Friday, bringing frigid temperatures. Although the wind won’t be as strong as on Thursday, with gusts between 20 and 25 miles per hour, the chill will still be felt. Morning wind chills will be in the single digits and teens across most areas, while afternoon highs will only reach the 30s with wind chills in the 20s.
The Catskills will see even colder temperatures, with winds gradually calming down on Saturday but wind chill remaining a factor. As the weekend progresses, temperatures will rise and winds will decrease, with Sunday expected to see near-normal temperatures in the upper 40s. By the middle of next week, temperatures will reach the mid-50s, feeling much warmer compared to the frigid weather anticipated for the first half of the weekend. Stay warm and brace yourself for the cold weather ahead.
