Patrik Laine to play first game with Canadiens on Tuesday against Islanders

Finnish forward Patrik Laine will make his debut in a Montreal Canadiens uniform against the New York Islanders on Tuesday night at the Bell Centre. Laine, who suffered a severe left knee sprain in a preseason game, has not played in an NHL game since December 2023. After facing setbacks with injuries and mental health struggles, Laine is excited and thankful for the opportunity to play for the Canadiens. He acknowledges the need for patience as he returns to the ice after a long absence, but hopes to quickly find his rhythm. Laine will skate on a line with Juraj Slafkovský and Kirby Dach, forming a trio of highly talented draft picks. Canadiens coach Martin St. Louis believes that if these three players can work well together, the team will be able to come at opponents with more depth and consistency. Laine’s return to the ice is highly anticipated by fans, as they look forward to seeing how he will perform in a Canadiens jersey after a series of challenges and setbacks.
