Barkley, now with the Eagles, is leading the league in rushing yards and yards from scrimmage, while McKinney, with the Packers, leads in interceptions. The Giants’ attempts to replace them with players like Tyrone Tracy Jr., Devin Singletary, Tyler Nubin, and Jason Pinnock have not lived up to the standard set by their predecessors.
The departure of other key players like Leonard Williams and Julian Love has also been felt by the Giants, with their replacements Brian Burns and A’Shawn Robinson not filling the void effectively. Schoen’s strategy of reallocating funds to different positions has not worked out as well as hoped, and the team’s performance has suffered as a result.
As the Giants struggle in Year 3 of Schoen’s tenure, questions are being raised about his decision-making and whether he has prioritized the right players for investment. While individual moves may have made sense at the time, the cumulative outcome has been far from ideal. If Schoen gets a fourth year with the team, he may need to rethink his approach to building a competitive roster.
