NBC New York Presents: A Heartwarming Film in the Style of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce

The new Hallmark movie “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story” centers on a Kansas City Chiefs-themed romance but loosely takes inspiration from the real-life relationship between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. The film features cameos from Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, players, and Donna Kelce. It is part of Hallmark’s effort to expand its audience reach, as Swift and Kelce’s romance has garnered widespread attention online.

Hallmark and the NFL share a similar audience, with many viewers interested in both sports and themed programming. The Chiefs capitalized on the interest in Swift and Kelce’s romance by teaming up with Hallmark for a spoof rom-com movie trailer. The movie follows a Chiefs megafan competing for the “Fan of the Year” award and the team’s director of fan engagement who evaluates her candidacy.

Featuring appearances from Chiefs players and Donna Kelce, the movie was filmed at Arrowhead Stadium. Donna Kelce will also make her acting debut in a different Hallmark movie with a nod to her son Jason Kelce. The film showcases the power of sports in bringing people together and capitalizes on the popularity of the Swiftie fandom. Hallmark plans to debut 47 new movies as part of its annual “Countdown to Christmas.”

In response to Hallmark’s movie, Lifetime released a rival title about a singer in love with a football player. The collaboration between Hallmark and the NFL aims to attract a diverse audience while celebrating love and sports.
