In a heartwarming incident after their victory over the Carolina Panthers last week, Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton saved a young boy who fell out of the stands while approaching the players as they walked off the field. The defending Super Bowl champions won the game 30-27 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on Nov. 24.
Wharton, who signed with the Chiefs in 2020 as an undrafted free agent, caught the boy, who was wearing a jersey of Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton, and gently put him back in the stands. Describing it as a natural reaction, Wharton said he heard the boy’s name and saw him coming down, quickly acting to prevent him from hitting the ground too hard.
Although Wharton hasn’t met the boy yet, he expressed his desire to reach out to him and invite him to a future Chiefs game. The 26-year-old player, who is in his fifth season with the team, is looking forward to reflecting with the young fan.
The Chiefs currently hold a 10-1 record and are set to face off against their AFC West rival Las Vegas Raiders on Nov. 29 in a game broadcast on Prime Video at 3 p.m. ET. This heartwarming story of sportsmanship and quick thinking showcases the dedication of Chiefs players both on and off the field.
