The latest update on the Ukraine war: Putin suggests possible Russian strikes on government buildings in Kyiv as Trump team contemplates strategies to bring an end to the conflict | Global News

Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that Russia could target “decision-making centres” in Kyiv as part of its response to Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory with Western weapons. Putin made these comments during a meeting in Kazakhstan, stating that Russia’s Oreshnik hypersonic missile, which was recently used in combat conditions, is difficult to intercept.

The tensions between Russia and Ukraine escalated when Ukraine fired ATACMS ballistic missiles supplied by the US into western Russia. In response, Russia launched the Oreshnik missile at the Ukrainian city of Dnipro. Putin claimed that Russia’s production of advanced missile systems surpasses that of NATO by ten times and that they plan to increase production even further.

Putin’s statements come amidst ongoing conflict between the two countries, with Russia accusing Ukraine of targeting its territory and responding with military action. The situation has raised concerns about potential escalation and the impact on civilians caught in the crossfire.

As Russia continues to identify potential targets in Ukraine, including key decision-making centres in Kyiv, the international community is closely monitoring the situation. The use of advanced weaponry and the threat of further military action have heightened tensions in the region, prompting calls for dialogue and de-escalation to avoid a full-scale conflict.
