Thiago Messi, the 12-year-old son of soccer superstar Lionel Messi, recently made his debut in the “Newell’s Cup” tournament in Rosario, Argentina. Playing for an Inter Miami youth team, Thiago wore the No. 10 jersey just like his famous father but unfortunately, his team lost 1-0 to Newell’s Old Boys in the under-13 competition.
Thiago’s debut in this tournament holds special significance as Lionel Messi himself started his football career in the same club in Rosario. Despite his absence, Thiago’s mother, grandparents, and other family members were there to watch him play.
Thiago played alongside Benjamín Suárez, the son of Luis Suárez, another soccer star and close friend of Lionel Messi. Both Messi and Suárez are currently in Rosario following Inter Miami’s elimination in the MLS playoffs.
The tournament, which features eight teams from North and South America, provided Thiago with a platform to showcase his skills and follow in his father’s footsteps. His participation in the competition has garnered attention due to his family’s sporting legacy.
Thiago’s debut has sparked excitement and interest among soccer fans, who are eager to see if he will eventually follow his father’s path to become a professional footballer. The young Messi’s performance on the field has already captured the attention of many, highlighting his potential in the sport.
