Students and faculty at the Phoenix Center in Nutley, NJ participated in the 8th annual turkey trot, with the help of student ambassadors from Washington Elementary School. The event took place on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024, where kids like Matt and Gabriel stretched before the race. The atmosphere was supportive, with ambassadors like Gianna and Abigail and gym teacher Dara Moscaritola cheering on the runners. Participants like Hadassa and James were helped across the finish line by their peers and faculty members. The event also featured races for different age groups, with Abdullah and Mark claiming victory in their respective categories.
The sense of community was evident as Anne-Marie Caruso captured heartwarming moments of students like Kevin receiving ribbons and getting high fives from supervisors like Eileen Mulcahy. Arnold Elementary School in Brockton, Mass., also held a Turkey Trot in honor of former student George Njuguna, where Arsliyana Patten won the 4th grade girls race. The event in Nutley was a collaborative effort between different schools and centers, with educators like Christine Hartz and Kim Wynbeck actively supporting the participants.
