Tragic Murder-Suicide Shock in Hamptons as Artist Sabina Rosas Found Dead
In a harrowing incident that unfolded at the luxurious Shou Sugi Ban House in Water Mill, Hamptons, Brooklyn artist Sabina Rosas was discovered dead, allegedly at the hands of her boyfriend, who subsequently took his own life. Rosas was found in a guest room on Monday, with police sources confirming the gruesome nature of her death, although specific details remain undisclosed pending an autopsy.
The suspect was reportedly seen leaving the spa alone before his body was located in an apparent suicide. Prior to this tragic event, Rosas, under her maiden name Sabina Khorramdel, was preparing for an art residency in Portugal, set to coincide with her 33rd birthday. She had successfully raised $1,520 through a GoFundMe campaign, expressing her excitement about creating new work in a "beautiful, inspiring environment."
Rosas’ family has since urged anyone with information regarding her death to step forward, reflecting their devastation at her loss: “Sabina brought excitement, adventure, joy and love to our family. We are devastated by this senseless loss.”
A notable participant in the 2021 Technology Immersion Program at Harvestworks, Rosas had a remarkable journey, having fled her home in Turkmenistan at the age of two due to civil war and later escaping dictatorial conditions in Crimea. By 17, she arrived in the United States, ultimately pursuing her passion for art and technology at colleges in New York.
As the community mourns, Shou Sugi Ban House, described as a serene sanctuary, now bears the weight of this tragic loss, a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities artists face. Authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this double tragedy.
