Poll shows Harris leading Trump in Morning Consult presidential election survey

A recent national poll conducted by Morning Consult shows Vice President Kamala Harris with a slight lead over former President Donald Trump in the race for the White House. The poll of 8,807 likely voters conducted from Oct. 25-27, shows Harris leading Trump 50% to 47%, with a 1 percentage point margin of error. Despite Harris’ lead being down from a similar poll last week, 45% of likely voters have heard something positive about her, compared to 49% who have heard something negative about Trump.

With just one week left until Election Day, both candidates are making their final pitches in key swing states. Trump is planning an evening rally in Allentown, Pennsylvania, while Harris is set to appear for a rally in Washington, D.C. Republicans are still more favored than Democrats on handling the economy, national security, crime, and immigration, while Democrats are trusted more on health care, climate change, and abortion, according to the poll.

It is important to note that the margin of error in polls indicates the accuracy of the results in representing the entire population. When a candidate’s lead is within the margin of error, it is considered a statistical tie. Many pollsters have adjusted their methods since the 2016 and 2020 elections, where Trump’s performance was underestimated.
