Pittsburgh Steelers Defeat New York Giants 26-18 on Monday Night
PITTSBURGH — In a thrilling Monday night matchup, the Pittsburgh Steelers secured a 26-18 victory over the New York Giants, thanks in large part to standout performances from Calvin Austin III and running back Najee Harris. Austin electrified the home crowd at Heinz Field with a 73-yard punt return touchdown in the third quarter and a 29-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Russell Wilson in the fourth, marking a pivotal turning point in the game.
The Steelers have now won 22 consecutive home games on Monday nights, improving their record to 6-2 and taking a one-game lead over Baltimore in the AFC North. Wilson showcased his ability, completing 20 of 28 passes for 278 yards and the touchdown to Austin, despite a late fumble that briefly gave the Giants hope. Pittsburgh’s defense, led by star T.J. Watt, quickly stifled that momentum with a crucial strip-sack of Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.
Harris, the Steelers’ running back, continued his strong form with 114 rushing yards, marking his third consecutive game with over 100 yards. Chris Boswell contributed four field goals, helping the Steelers maintain control despite facing challenges in the red zone.
For the Giants, fresh off a challenging defeat against the Eagles, rookie Tyrone Tracy emerged as a bright spot with a season-high 145 rushing yards. Despite their efforts, including a spirited drive culminating in a late-game pick from Jones that sealed their fate, New York’s struggles were compounded by 11 penalties for 65 yards.
As the Steelers prepare for a bye week, the Giants will look to bounce back against Washington next Sunday.
