Kyiv, Ukraine, was hit by a Russian drone attack, injuring two people and causing a residential building to catch on fire in the Solomianskyi district. The Sviatoshynskyi district in Kyiv was also attacked, with further casualties reported. In Kryvyi Rih, a missile strike killed one person and injured at least 11 in a residential building. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attacks and called for increased pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war. A medic was also killed in the southern Kherson region in a separate drone attack.
The Russian army has made significant territorial gains in eastern Ukraine, with an increase of 478 square kilometers in October alone. North Korea’s involvement in the conflict has raised concerns, with reports of 12,000 North Korean soldiers expected to join Russian forces. The US has expressed alarm at this development and urged China to be concerned about the destabilizing actions of both Russia and North Korea.
In response to Russian aggression, Britain has imposed sanctions on three Russian agencies and three senior figures for attempting to undermine and destabilize Ukraine through disinformation. Additionally, Croatia has announced plans to purchase up to 50 Leopard tanks from Germany, with some of its older tanks and military equipment being sent to Ukraine to support their defense efforts. Since the start of the war, Croatia has provided military aid totaling over €200m to Ukraine.
