The latest victim, 15-year-old Malachi Deberry, was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head near his home in Brownsville on Friday night. Emergency responders rushed him to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Deberry’s death marks the second in this harrowing series of shootings.

In a grim turn of events, on Saturday, 16-year-old Taearion Mungo was shot in the chest outside the Walt Whitman Houses in Fort Greene. Medics rushed him to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, but he could not be saved.

The violence escalated further on Sunday when another 16-year-old, Tristan Sanders, was fatally shot twice in the chest inside an Albany Houses apartment building. Despite timely medical intervention at Kings County Hospital, Sanders succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

The deadly spree began early Thursday morning when 16-year-old Clarence Jones was shot in the torso near W. 124th St. and Lenox Ave. in Harlem. He was just nine blocks from home. Authorities report that two gunmen on scooters were involved in this shooting.

Investigations into these heartbreaking incidents are ongoing, with no arrests made as of yet. The police are searching for two suspects in the case of Sanders, described as wearing hoodies of different colors.

Community leaders and residents are expressing their outrage and concern as they call for action against the rising tide of gun violence affecting their neighborhoods. These tragic events have left families shattered and prompted urgent discussions on safety and prevention measures.
