Actress Anna Kendrick recently revealed a troubling experience with a director during a live taping for a podcast. Kendrick shared how a director had asked her to improvise a scene in front of 100 extras, only to later embarrass her by criticizing her in front of everyone and telling her to stick to the script. Kendrick described the incident as “icky” and seen as a power move to gain dominance over her.
Despite the challenging experience, Kendrick’s improvisation in the scene made it into the film’s trailer. Kendrick, known for her roles in films like “Twilight,” “Pitch Perfect,” and “Up in the Air,” did not name the director, leaving it a mystery as to who was responsible for the embarrassing moment.
More recently, Kendrick made her directorial debut in the Netflix crime thriller “Woman of the Hour,” in which she also stars. The film is based on the true story of serial killer Rodney Alcala, who appeared on “The Dating Game” in the midst of his murder spree. Kendrick plays Cheryl Bradshaw, the real-life game show contestant who unknowingly selected Alcala as her date. Alcala was known as the Dating Game Killer and was convicted of killing several women and a young girl, with law enforcement suspecting many more victims.
Overall, Kendrick’s experiences with directors both on and off screen showcase her resilience and talent in navigating the often challenging world of Hollywood.
