Montclair residents express outrage over TikToker tearing down Greek flags mistaken for Israeli flags

Amber Matthews, a 23-year-old anti-Israel influencer, is facing criticism and legal action after mistakenly tearing down Greek flags outside a New Jersey restaurant, thinking they were Israeli. The incident, which occurred in March, went viral in October after Matthews posted a video of the incident to TikTok. Residents of Montclair expressed shock at the vandalism and criticized Matthews for her ignorance and behavior.

In the video, Matthews can be seen shouting anti-Israel sentiments and claiming she does not support Zionism while tearing down the flags. Following the incident, she was arrested and charged with bias intimidation and harassment. Residents of Montclair condemned her actions, calling her small-minded and ignorant.

The Montclair Police Department had initially investigated the incident in March but had no leads until Matthews posted the video seven months later. The incident highlighted the impact of social media on real-world behavior and sparked conversations about the importance of understanding and respecting different cultures and beliefs.
