Angel Reese claps back at critics following release of Reebok signature shoe

Angel Reese, the Chicago Sky rookie, has responded to critics with a joke after Reebok announced she will have her own signature shoe. The 22-year-old athlete signed a multiyear endorsement contract extension with Reebok, making her the first athlete to join the company’s NIL roster in 2023. Reese, who made headlines recently for joking about living beyond her means on social media, is projected to earn $74,909 next season in the WNBA. Additionally, Reese hosts the “Unapologetically Angel” podcast and will play in the new Unrivaled League during the WNBA offseason.

The rookie had an impressive performance in her first WNBA season, with an average of 13.6 points per game and a rookie-record 26 double-doubles. She also had 28 games with double-digit rebounds, making her achievements the longest streaks in WNBA history. Despite finishing as the runner-up to Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark, Reese was one of the only rookies to make the 2024 WNBA All-Star team.

Reese joins the ranks of other WNBA players with signature shoe deals, including Caitlin Clark, Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, A’ja Wilson, and Sydney Colson. With a growing list of accomplishments and endorsements, Angel Reese seems to have a promising career ahead of her both on and off the basketball court.
