Dallas Cowboys All-Pro kicker Brandon Aubrey had to miss practice on Wednesday due to jury duty obligations for a felony assault case in Tarrant County, Texas. Aubrey was selected as a juror on a 12-person panel, and his availability for practice on Thursday and Friday is uncertain. However, his status for the team’s upcoming game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football is not in question.
Despite attempts by the Cowboys to excuse him from jury duty, Aubrey insisted on fulfilling his civic duty. The case, which involves a second-degree strangulation charge, is expected to continue throughout the week, but Aubrey’s schedule will be accommodated by the judge.
Aubrey, who had an All-Pro rookie season in 2023, has solidified himself as one of the NFL’s top kickers. He has made 17 out of 19 field goal attempts in the Cowboys’ first six games of the season, including a nearly record-breaking 65-yard field goal against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3. His prowess in kicking was showcased when he came just one yard short of the NFL’s longest made field goal, currently held by Justin Tucker with a 66-yarder in 2021.
For now, Aubrey will balance his responsibilities to both the NFL and the judicial system, demonstrating his dedication on and off the field.
