The Vessel, a towering sculpture in Manhattan’s Hudson Yards, has reopened with new safety features after closing due to four suicides. The structure now has steel safety mesh installed along the outer perimeter. Created by English designer Thomas Heatherwick, The Vessel features 154 flights of stairs providing views of the West Side and the Hudson River. Visitors can now access the sculpture for a fee or for free on Thursdays, with the top floor remaining closed for safety updates. The reopening has brought hope to local business staff, who are optimistic about attracting more visitors to the area. The Vessel, which previously attracted 2 million visitors annually, offers changing views depending on factors like weather and the movement of people around the structure. Related Companies, the owner of Hudson Yards, did not comment on the reopening. If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available by calling or texting 988 or visiting 988lifeline.org.
