NBC New York – Date, start time, and route

New York City will host a ticker-tape parade for the New York Liberty to celebrate their first-ever WNBA championship win. Mayor Eric Adams announced the parade will take place on Thursday, Oct. 24, starting at 10 a.m. and will be followed by a ceremony at City Hall plaza. The parade route and street closures will be in effect, with NBC 4 New York airing TV coverage for those unable to attend in person. The MTA will have train service changes and bus re-routes due to the event.

This marks the third time a women’s sports team in New York has received a ticker-tape parade, with the last one being to honor essential workers and first responders during the COVID-19 pandemic. The parade will celebrate the historic win of the New York Liberty in an exciting event in the heart of downtown Manhattan, with Mayor Eric Adams encouraging all New Yorkers to join in the celebration. It will be a day to remember for the city and the team, with over 200 ticker-tape parades having taken place in New York City, including ones for sports teams like the U.S. women’s soccer team in 2019. The New York Liberty’s victory will be recognized and celebrated in a grand fashion with the parade, showcasing their achievement and bringing the community together for a joyous event.
