Martha Stewart has recently addressed the falling-out with fellow TV chef Ina Garten, clarifying that they did not stop being friends solely because of Garten’s move to Connecticut. Stewart reminisced about how their friendship ended after she went to prison, and Snoop Dogg, who was present during the interview, joked that he stepped in to fill that void. Garten has since “firmly” disputed Stewart’s account of their fallout, with a representative stating that Stewart is not bitter about the situation.
The two chefs met in the early ‘90s and became friends, with Stewart even helping Garten boost her career by featuring her on her show and introducing her to key people in the industry. While Garten has praised Stewart in the past, she has never agreed that their friendship ended due to Stewart’s time in prison.
Stewart was sentenced to prison in 2004 for charges related to conspiracy and obstruction of justice, as well as lying to federal investigators. After serving five months, she made a remarkable comeback and resumed her successful career. Stewart denied Garten’s claims in her new memoir and expressed that she was hurt that Garten stopped talking to her during her time in prison.
Stewart’s publicist has maintained that there is no feud between Stewart and Garten, despite the discrepancies in their stories. Both famous chefs have had successful careers and have continued to thrive in the food and entertainment industry.
