Fenika Miller, Deborah Scott, and Monica Simpson, among other community activists from Georgia, participated in a pilot program at Harvard University called Power, Innovation, and Leadership executive education program in April 2023. The program aimed to empower Black women leaders from the South to make a difference in their communities. Deborah Barfield Berry documented the experiences of these participants, including discussions led by professors like Julie Battilana and April England-Albright, as well as interactions during dinner events at the Kennedy School. The program included assignments and exercises to help the participants develop their leadership skills and build connections with other like-minded individuals. Barbara Perkins and other participants were also seen engaging in conversations and networking opportunities during the program. Overall, the pilot program provided a valuable learning experience for these women to grow as leaders and make a positive impact on their communities.
