Zayn Malik has postponed the U.S. portion of his upcoming tour in light of Liam Payne’s passing. Payne, who tragically died at the age of 31 after falling from a hotel balcony, was a former bandmate of Malik in One Direction. Malik stated that he was devastated over Payne’s death and paid a heartfelt tribute to his friend on Instagram. The tour dates have been rescheduled for January 2025.
The U.S. tour was set to begin on Oct. 23 in San Francisco to promote Malik’s fourth studio album, “Room Under the Stairs.” Malik and Payne had a complicated relationship over the years but had expressed mutual respect and love for each other. They both rose to fame as members of One Direction, where they released four albums together.
Malik praised Payne for his support during difficult times in his life and expressed regret that there were conversations they never got to have. The members of One Direction issued a joint statement mourning Payne’s death and expressing their love for their brother.
Despite previous disagreements, Payne and Malik had a close bond, with Payne emphasizing that he will always be on Malik’s side no matter what. Medical officials confirmed that Payne had suffered a fatal cranial fracture and other severe injuries that led to his immediate death. Witnesses reported that Payne’s behavior before the accident was erratic and that he was under the influence of hallucinogenic drugs.
