MTA bus accident leaves scooter rider in critical condition in Brooklyn

A horrifying accident occurred in Brooklyn on Sunday when a scooter rider was struck by an MTA bus, leaving him in critical condition. The 44-year-old man was riding near Church Avenue and Linden Boulevard in Brownsville when he collided with the bus. The bus operator, a 35-year-old male, remained on the scene and was deemed to be in stable condition. The circumstances of the crash are still under investigation, but witnesses reported seeing the man trapped under the bus’s tire.

Following the incident, both B35 and B8 buses detoured around the crash site. This intersection has been the site of a previous fatal accident in 2016 when a pedestrian was killed by a minivan. Linden Boulevard, where the accident occurred, has also been known as a deadly thoroughfare with 28 fatalities recorded since 2011. These include pedestrians, motorists, and cyclists, with thousands of injuries reported along the same stretch.

The community is left in shock by the incident, with many concerned about the safety of pedestrians, cyclists, and scooter riders in the area. The local authorities are working to determine the cause of the crash and prevent similar accidents in the future. Our thoughts are with the injured scooter rider and his family as he fights for his life in the hospital.
