The Israeli military (IDF) has discovered a network of tunnels in southern Lebanon used by Hezbollah militants, prompting a campaign to dismantle them. Over 50 tunnel shafts and other ‘terrorist infrastructure’ have been destroyed, with weapons caches seized, including landmines and anti-tank missiles. Israel is concerned about potential attacks similar to those orchestrated by Hamas in Gaza last year, sparking a war. The IDF’s ground campaign, focused on the border, aims to prevent Hezbollah from using the tunnels as a launchpad for assaults. Meanwhile, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned against harming Israeli citizens, following what is described as a Hezbollah assassination attempt on him. Drone attacks targeted his residence, though no injuries were reported. In response, Netanyahu vowed to continue fighting against enemies. Air strikes on Beirut and projectiles fired into Israel have resulted in casualties on both sides. The IDF’s efforts to eliminate threats from militant groups like Hezbollah remain ongoing, in order to safeguard Israeli communities and prevent further violence.
