Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris will be joined by former Rep. Liz Cheney on a three-state swing through key suburban counties. Longtime Republican strategist Sarah Longwell and conservative radio host Charlie Sykes will moderate the events, which are billed as conversations. Cheney and her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, have endorsed Harris’ bid for the presidency, with Liz Cheney encouraging Republicans to “meet the moment” and support Harris. Cheney was recently removed from her position as House Republican Conference chair for criticizing Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. She was one of 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Trump after the January 6th Capitol attack, and served on the House select committee investigating the insurrection. Longwell, founder of the Republican Accountability Project, and Sykes, a former conservative radio host, are both now vocal critics of Trump who support Harris. Sykes has emphasized the importance of not just opposing Trump but supporting Harris as well. This event highlights the growing support for Harris among Republicans who have broken with the previous administration and are now advocating for a change in leadership.
