Josh Hart is uncertain about his role as the Knicks’ regular season approaches

Knicks shooting guard Josh Hart expressed uncertainty about his role on the team following a 118-117 preseason loss to the Wizards. Despite scoring only two points on two shots, Hart admitted feeling lost and suggested a possible move to the bench to figure out his role better before the season opener against Boston. However, Hart had previously made similar comments last season and eventually found his rhythm. This season, he is adjusting to playing alongside two offensive-minded All-Stars and another high-volume shooter.

Hart stated that he is willing to sacrifice and adjust his role if needed, highlighting the need for the team to find ways to be its best. During the preseason, Hart took just six shots in 90 minutes with two points. The second unit, led by Miles McBride and Precious Achiuwa, will need to adjust with Achiuwa suffering an injury.

The issue of roles and sacrifices extends beyond Hart, as point guard Jalen Brunson also addressed family drama that spilled over onto the court during a preseason game. A disagreement involving assistant coach Rick Brunson and Donte DiVincenzo led to a postgame confrontation but was eventually resolved.

Despite the preseason challenges, the Knicks finished with a 4-1 record and will look to address role adjustments and potential lineup changes before the start of the regular season. Hart’s uncertainties and the team’s ability to adapt and find chemistry will be crucial to their success moving forward.
