The late assistant to Nelson Rockefeller pens her own obituary, acknowledging her infamous reputation in connection to his death, with a tantalizing final statement

Former Deputy Press Secretary to Vice President Nelson Rockefeller, Megan Marshack, passed away at the age of 70 in California earlier this month. Marshack, who was often speculated to be involved in a relationship with Rockefeller, had kept quiet about the details of the politician’s death for decades.

The obituary that Marshack wrote herself before her death focused on her career in journalism and her time working for Rockefeller. In 1979, she was with Rockefeller when he died of a heart attack, and she was one of the last people to see him alive. Rumors of a possible affair between the two circulated, but Marshack never confirmed or denied these speculations.

Despite never speaking publicly about her relationship with Rockefeller, Marshack had a desire to tell her story but complied with a nondisclosure agreement with the Rockefeller family. Her obituary ended with a quote from “A Chorus Line” that hinted at keeping intimate details private out of love and respect.

Marshack first met Rockefeller while working as a young reporter and later joined his press team. After his death, she returned to journalism and eventually married. She is survived by her brother. Marshack’s life story continues to spark intrigue and speculation about her relationship with the late politician, even after her passing.
