A teacher, a police officer, and two others have been indicted for allegedly running multiple brothels on Long Island for four years. The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office led a yearslong investigation that determined George Trimigliozzi and Steven Arey were part of a criminal enterprise that profited from promoting prostitution at two locations in Suffolk County. The enterprise also included Frank Saggio and Dana Ciardullo, who were accused of hiring sex workers, collecting proceeds, and posting advertisements seeking patrons of prostitution. Trimigliozzi and Arey served as managers at a building in Holbrook where two brothels were allegedly run by Saggio, while Ciardullo was a manager at a location in West Babylon. The indictments were described as a “long-term pattern of organized criminal activity and a shocking betrayal of public trust.” Trimigliozzi, as a police officer, allegedly responded to a robbery at the brothel while on duty, leading to his suspension without pay. Arey, a teacher at Islip High School, was placed on leave following his arrest. All four defendants face charges of enterprise corruption and promoting prostitution, with Trimigliozzi facing additional charges of falsifying records and misconduct. Saggio faces sex trafficking charges. They are due back in court on December 9 and could face up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
