The 2024 WNBA season saw the unanimous selections of MVP A’ja Wilson and Defensive Player of the Year Napheesa Collier to the all-WNBA first team, alongside rookie Caitlin Clark, MVP Breanna Stewart, and Alyssa Thomas. Clark’s inclusion marked the first time since 2008 that a rookie had made the first team, with only a handful of rookies achieving this honor in WNBA history.
The New York Liberty had two players, Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones, on the second team, with Ionescu being the leading vote-getter. Other players on the second team included Kahleah Copper, Nneka Ogwumike, and Arike Ogunbowale, with Ogwumike helping to lead the Seattle Storm to a significant improvement in the 2024 season.
Notable players who did not make the first or second teams include Kayla McBride, Allisha Gray, Kelsey Mitchell, and Dearica Hamby. This season also marked the first time since 2021 that the Las Vegas Aces did not have multiple all-WNBA players, a significant change from their previous seasons of success.
Liberty coach Sandy Brondello expressed pride in seeing three of her players recognized for their accomplishments, noting the team’s focus on pursuing a championship. The awards highlight the outstanding performances of players throughout the 2024 season, with veterans and newcomers alike making their mark on the league.
