The 2024 All-WNBA First Team was announced, with A’ja Wilson and Napheesa Collier unanimously selected alongside Caitlin Clark, Breanna Stewart, and Alyssa Thomas. Clark became the first rookie since 2008 to make the first team, following in the footsteps of legends like Candace Parker, Sue Bird, Tamika Catchings, and Diana Taurasi. The New York Liberty had two players on the second team, Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones, with Ionescu being the leading vote-getter. Other second team members included Kahleah Copper, Nneka Ogwumike, and Arike Ogunbowale. This marks the first all-WNBA selection for Copper, while Ogwumike and Ogunbowale earned their seventh and third nods, respectively.
Despite not having multiple players on the all-WNBA teams, the Las Vegas Aces had an impressive season culminating in a championship win. Notable players who missed out on the teams include Kayla McBride, Allisha Gray, Kelsey Mitchell, and Dearica Hamby. Liberty coach Sandy Brondello expressed pride in her players’ accomplishments and highlighted their focus on winning a championship. The awards reflect the outstanding performances of these players throughout the season, with standout performances from rookies, veterans, and rising stars alike.
