At least 22 people, including women and children, have been killed in an Israeli attack on the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza as Israeli forces continue their ground assault in the area. The Israeli military has issued evacuation orders for residents near Jabalia to move to the south of the enclave. The offensive in Jabalia aims to stop Hamas from regrouping, according to the Israeli military.
The attacks have trapped thousands of Palestinian civilians, with international charity Doctors Without Borders reporting dire conditions in the area. A multistorey apartment block in Jabalia was bombed, killing 22 people and injuring 30. The Kamal Adwan Hospital in the north is running out of fuel and has been ordered by the Israeli military to cease operations.
Amid the violence, the Israeli military has issued a new evacuation order for residents in the vicinity of Jabalia to leave immediately. MSF staff, including five trapped in Jabalia, have raised concerns about the situation, with one MSF driver expressing fear for his safety.
The toll of the conflict in Gaza continues to rise, with at least 42,175 people killed and 98,336 wounded in Israeli attacks since October 2023. The Gaza Ministry of Health reported 49 dead and 219 injured in the previous 24 hours alone.
As the violence escalates in Gaza, international humanitarian organizations are calling for an end to the bloodshed and for the protection of civilians caught in the crossfire. The situation in Jabalia and other parts of Gaza remains dire, with residents facing the devastating impact of the ongoing conflict.
