In October 2022, Hamas attacked Israel and kidnapped more than 250 people, including four Americans. Among the hostages are Edan Alexander, a 20-year-old IDF soldier from New Jersey; Omer Neutra, a 22-year-old IDF soldier from New York; Sagui Dekel-Chen, a 35-year-old father of three from Kibbutz Nir Oz; and Keith Siegel, a 64-year-old occupational therapist from Kibbutz Kfar Aza.
Edan Alexander was captured while stationed near the Gaza border, and his family is pushing for a deal to secure his release. Omer Neutra, known for his sportsmanship and love of travel, was captured during the initial response to the attack. His family has spoken with President Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to seek help in getting him released.
Sagui Dekel-Chen was taken from his home in Kibbutz Nir Oz while working in his machine shop. His father last heard from him when released hostages reported seeing him alive but wounded. Keith Siegel, who has been in captivity since October, suffered injuries during the attack and appeared in a Hamas propaganda video in April. His wife, Aviva, is advocating for his release to end the suffering of the hostages.
The families of these American hostages are pleading for their safe return, with Aviva Siegel expressing frustration and desperation over the lack of action to free them. The hostages’ loved ones are holding onto hope and pushing for government intervention to secure their release from captivity.
